Funeral Information

When a Catholic dies, the community gathers for a funeral both to say farewell to the person and to entrust that person to God’s loving care. It is a time of praise and thanks for the gift of life that has been returned to the Creator. In mourning and in joy, the family and community remember their life and what that person has meant to them.

As your Parish family, we are present to journey with you in your loss.  Working together with the Funeral Director, we assist you in planning your loved one’s funeral.

It is important that families make their first contact to the Funeral Directors, and also liaise with family members about the family’s wishes. The parish office will then arrange for a priest to meet with the family once dates, times and a church are decided upon.

The Parish Office can also help with information regarding cremation and the Columbarium.

Pre-Funeral Preparation

We often receive requests from people who would like to have peace of mind for themselves and their families by pre-planning any funeral arrangements, so they can leave these instructions with their other documents and know that their wishes for a Catholic ceremony will be fulfilled.

We have developed a new form that can be helpful for people who want to pre-plan aspects of a future funeral.  It can also be used by people who are preparing for the imminent passing of a loved one, or for preparing a funeral for a loved one who has passed away.  Here at the parish, we are happy to help out in the time of bereavement but this resource is a great help for people to begin preparing. Naturally, the priest for a funeral will be in contact with a bereaved family and help put all the plans together at a time of loss. Please find this resource which may be very helpful, especially in these times of isolation and social distancing, where it is very difficult or impossible for people to gather to prepare for these important events.
